Venue of the symposium
The Venue for the symposium is Trondheim, in the middle part of Norway. Trondheim is the third largest town in Norway with 160 000 inhabitants.
The venue for the Symposium is the Royal Garden Hotel in the city centre.
Trondheim weather is typically fine and sunny in June. However, as the Arctic Circle is only 400km/250mi up North, weather can be ’surprisingly different’ from what the term ’temperate climate’ in travel guides suggests. Normal precipitation amounts to 67mm in June. During the Summer the sun never really sets in the north of Norway, and even in the south there is daylight as late as 11 pm. Sunrise is usually at around 3am during this period. At the North Cape the midnight sun lasts from 11 May - 31 July.
How to get here
Trondheim is easily accessible from the rest of the world by plane to Trondheim Airport Værnes. The airport is located about 25 minutes drive from the city centre.
The airport shuttle bus leaves shortly after each plane arrival, and is the most convenient way of getting from the airport to the city centre. The airport shuttle bus stops at Royal Garden Hotel, and many other downtown hotels.
The route between Trondheim Værnes and Oslo Airport Gardermoen is one of the busiest in Europe, with flights by SAS and Norwegian. From Oslo Gardermoen there are connections to a large number of European destinations. There are also direct flights between Trondheim Airport and Stockholm, Copenhagen, London, and Amsterdam.
